Le Ganeau est une famille de latines qui comporte trois corps optiques (titre, texte, légende) en romain et en italique. À travers le dessin de caractères, j’ai cherché à proposer une lecture confortable lorsque cela est nécessaire, et une approche plus expressive quand cela est possible. La motivation principale de ce projet était de trouver l’équilibre entre fonctionnalité et esthétique. Mes choix ont été déterminés par les tailles des caractères (corps optiques), leurs usages (pour une lecture continue ou discontinue) et la notion de famille (latines : incises ou empattements triangulaires).
Ganeau is a latin type family made up of three optical body heights (title, text, caption) in roman and italic. Through the character design, I wanted to make them easy to read when necessary and allow for a more expressive approach when possible.
The main aim of the project was to find a balance between functionality and aesthetics. My choices were defined by the size of the characters (optical body heights), their use (for continuous or interrupted reading) and the notion of a type family (latin : incised or triangular serif).
